Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Senior Forensic Analyst to provide crime scene processing, evidence collection, and lead in specialized areas as assigned. The role involves handling latent print processing, fingerprint/DNA analysis, and documentation for court proceedings.

Qualified candidates will hold a relevant bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of crime lab experience (or 7 years in lieu). IAI certification and phlebotomy license are required or must be obtained within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in forensic science, biology, chemistry, criminal justice, or related field with 3 years of crime lab experience, or 7 years in crime lab work.
• Experience in Latent Print Processing/Analysis, Firearms/NIBIN, Digital Evidence Processing, FARO, and/or Blood Spatter preferred.
• Must be IAI Certified Crime Scene Investigator at hire and obtain certification within one year.
• Phlebotomy license required or to be obtained within one year.

Responsibilities

• Process crime scenes to locate latent fingerprints, footwear impressions, trace evidence, DNA, and other physical evidence.
• Document scenes with photography/video, notes, sketches, and 3-D diagrams as needed.
• Manage evidence and chain of custody; ensure compliance with SOPs and applicable rules.
• Conduct latent fingerprint/palm print searches using ABIS or similar systems.
• Prepare reports and exhibits for court; assist with autopsies as needed.
• May testify as expert witness and deliver trainings as assigned.
• Operate LiveScan and other specialized equipment; perform blood draws and related duties as required.
