Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety, is seeking a Sanitation and Safety Specialist to perform regulatory inspections of food establishments throughout the state. The role requires evaluating processing methods, equipment and personnel practices to ensure sanitation and safety standards are met.

Selected candidate will prepare inspection reports, issue corrective actions, and may participate in disaster or emergency responses.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and 1 year of professional work experience, or a bachelor’s degree that can substitute for the experience.
• Strong knowledge of sanitation regulations, food safety requirements, and inspection procedures.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate inspection reports and enforce corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments as per FDACS rules.
• Evaluate processing, equipment, and personnel practices for compliance with sanitation standards.
• Prepare findings and enforcement actions, and assist with investigations and emergency responses.
