Job summary

Dennis Group is a design-build engineering firm and general contractor that designs and builds food and beverage processing facilities. Automation/Controls Engineers work with process, packaging and building engineers to support startup, commissioning, and qualification of client facilities.

On-site presence is required to diagnose and troubleshoot production lines, equipment, and facilities. Role demands strong software and hardware design and troubleshooting for instrumentation and control

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems.
• 8+ years in Visual Basic, SQL, MS Access programming.
• 8+ years designing and implementing process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Device Net, Profibus, etc.).
• 8+ years in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Client-facing role with strong communication and team skills.
• Travel required – 35% to 50% of time in client facilities.

Responsibilities

• Handles complex issues and refers more complex issues to higher-level engineer, team lead, or manager.
• Designs and troubleshoots software and hardware for control systems using PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems.
• Automates manufacturing processes through instrumentation or controls systems.
• Designs, diagnoses, and troubleshoots network infrastructures (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, etc.).
• Develops new PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
• Develops setup and commissioning of new facilities or upgrades to existing facilities.
