Job summary

Dennis Group is a design-build engineering firm and general contractor focused on food and beverage processing facilities. Automation/Controls Engineers work with process, packaging, and building engineers to support startup, commissioning, and qualification at client facilities.

The role involves regular onsite work to diagnose, troubleshoot, and startup production lines, with travel up to 50% of the year. Strong hardware/software capabilities and excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 4–7 years of experience with AB/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems.
• 4–7 years of experience in Visual Basic, SQL, MS Access programming.
• 4–7 years of experience with process network infrastructure (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ProfiBus, etc.).
• 4–7 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Travel 35%–50% of time for installation/startup phases.

Responsibilities

• Designs and troubleshoots software and hardware for control systems using PLCs.
• Automates manufacturing processes via instrumentation and controls.
• Designs and troubleshoots network infrastructures (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.).
• Develops new PLC applications and embedded controls.
• Coordinates with other engineering disciplines during projects.
• Documents specifications and procedures and supports installation contractors.
