Job summary

The Financial Auditor will conduct highly complex audits for USDA Child Nutrition Programs under the Texas Department of Agriculture, ensuring integrity, economy, and effectiveness. Work is performed with limited supervision and requires initiative and independent judgment.

Primary duties include compliance reviews, CAP processing, and technical assistance on program rules, with focus on timely, accurate reporting and risk mitigation. Telework is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Four years of audit/accounting experience in financial compliance.
• Experience with MS Excel, Access, Tableau and Power BI is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform compliance reviews for USDA CNP programs and related audits.
• Review internal controls, accounting records, and systems for accuracy and conformance.
• Prepare audit correspondence, CAPs/CADs, and manage follow-up actions with stakeholders.
• Provide guidance on program rules and corrective actions to internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Director and other stakeholders on findings and trends.
