The Texas Department of Agriculture seeks a Director for Food & Nutrition Business Management in Austin to lead the financial desk, budgeting processes, and compliance across F&N programs. This executive role focuses on strategic planning, staff supervision, and ensuring timely financial reporting.

You will oversee budgeting, accounting controls, and procurement, while coordinating with agency leadership to meet program goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree or CPA license can substitute for undergrad degree and some experience.
• Six years of accounting/government finance/budget experience; three in supervisor/managerial roles.

Responsabilités

• Direct the day-to-day activities of the F&N Business Management section, including personnel management, budgeting, expense control, and performance reviews.
• Assist the Administrator for F&N with process improvements and setting priorities for goals and projects.
• Oversee reimbursement claims, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliations across programs.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual state/federal reports (meal counts, reimbursements, budgets, LBB requests, performance measures).
• Contribute to development of SAE, Summer Food Service Program budgets, and Agency Operating Budget (AOB) and LAR for F&N programs.
• Manage financial desk reviews, single audit processes, and ensure compliance with sponsor requirements.
• Oversee budgets for twenty Education Service Centers (ESC) and monitor reporting and reviews.
• Maintain accounting codes for F&N programs and coordinate with Compliance to test enhancements in processing systems.
• Oversee procurement and contract management per state/federal rules.
