Job summary
Sonoco Chesterfield is seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to improve efficiency and reliability of plant manufacturing processes through automation projects. You will work with electrical, mechanical and automation teams, using Siemens and Allen-Bradley platforms, to drive upgrades and ensure equipment remains current.
The role involves on-site support across Chesterfield and Bradford sites, along with learning and mentoring other engineers while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven Knowledge in Siemens S5/S7 and Allen Bradley systems.
- Experience with PLC/SCADA/HMI in FMCG or manufacturing.
- Graduate-level degree in a technical field and Lean Six Sigma exposure.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support across electrical, mechanical and automation disciplines.
- Configure and program controllers and visualization systems (Siemens/Allen-Bradley).
- Plan and program drive technology and servo drives; maintain documentation.
- Develop hardware schematics and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Lead automation improvement projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Support start-up, commissioning, and on-site troubleshooting at Chesterfield and Bradford sites.
