Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an Experienced Fluids Engineer to join the Hull Planning Yard (HPY) Engineering organization at Groton, CT. This role focuses on supporting current submarine hulls through design changes, modernization documentation, and technical direction for emergent issues.

The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers, lead critical projects, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure alignment with program requirements. A Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering.
• 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience performing requirements traceability, material specifications, and design and analysis of piping/fluid and HVAC systems.
• Experience conducting and reviewing pressure-drop calculations.
• Experience evaluating pipe sizing and material selection.
• Experience working with compressible and incompressible fluid systems.
• Experience reviewing and approving work completed by junior engineers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the DoD.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and review of engineering work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate across disciplines and departments to align design, analysis, and program requirements.
