Job summary

Textron Systems in New Orleans, LA seeks a Mechanical Engineer III (Fluid Systems) to design propulsion and auxiliary fluid systems, create layouts, and write specifications. You will support production, testing, and fleet operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet program goals and reduce costs.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and about 5 years in propulsion or fluid-system design, with CAD proficiency (SolidWorks/CATIA/NX5).

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of marine/aerospace propulsion or fluid-system design experience.
• Knowledge of military and commercial marine standards.
• Experience selecting piping components and performing pressure-drop calculations.
• Understanding of general fluid systems design and piping arrangements.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX5, Pro-E).
• Experience with SolidWorks pipe-routing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed fluid system installations for propulsion and auxiliary systems.
• Coordinate supplier subsystem development and design reviews.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation and test reports.
• Develop technical reports for customer submittals.
• Execute tasks in line with program schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate interface requirements with other engineering disciplines.
• Identify and mitigate risks in craft fluid systems.
• Support production, testing, and fielded Navy craft installations and improvements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
