Job summary

Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I – Fluid Systems to develop and improve propulsion component fabrication and assembly processes. You will collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to implement design specs and drive process improvements.

The role emphasizes welding fabrication, tubing components, and NDE/NDT inspections, with equity rewards and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience developing fabrication methods such as OTW, TIG, proof testing and cleaning.
• Experience setting up and operating a tube shop or build area.
• Lean/Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform, and qualify precision welding and fabrication of tubing components per aerospace specs.
• Use TIG, MIG, OTW and other welding methods to ensure structural integrity.
• Inspect welded components using NDE/NDT methods to identify defects.
• Collaborate with engineering to implement design specifications.
• Lead containment investigations and root-cause/corrective actions when needed.
• Analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies and non-conformances.
• Drive quality initiatives with the quality team.
• Interface production, quality, supply chain, and design staff for problem solving.
• Plan upgrades to equipment/layout with business-case preparation.
• Lead Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement efforts; develop new processes where none exist.
