Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking aSenior Weld Engineer to lead the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of welding processes for the Archimedes Engine. You will be the technical point of contact for welding-related production issues and collaborate with manufacturing, design, tooling, and production teams.

You will define welding specifications, qualify tests, and ensure compliance with AWS D17.1 and NASA standards while driving process improvements and root-cause

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Welding, Mechanical Engineering or relevant STEM field.
• 5+ years of weld engineering experience for aerospace applications.
• Hands-on fabrication, manufacturing, or testing of welded assemblies.
• Experience with welding processes: TIG, Laser, MIG, GTAW, GMAW; AWS D17.x and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement welding procedures and process improvements for Archimedes Engine welding.
• Author welding specifications and PQRs; define welding acceptance criteria per AWS D17.1 and NASA standards.
• Improve processes via root cause analyses of weld nonconformances.
• Guide weld repair, rework, and dispositioning; support production on welded assemblies.
• Collaborate with design, tooling, and manufacturing engineers to improve welded designs.
• Develop qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical/NDE results.
• General support of Materials & Processes projects.
