Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a fluids & propulsion design engineer for the MK2 Lander to own propulsion fluid system configurations and CAD models. You will manage tube routing and manufacturing development through the fluid system lifecycle.

You will work with NASA and national partners on the HLS SLD program to enable safe, cost-effective lunar transport and crew systems. This role requires leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for space exploration.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 8+ years designing tubes, fluid components, engine assemblies, and test rigs.
  • Experience generating 3D models and drawings in Creo for fluid assemblies with tube routing.
  • Experience welding tube assemblies for aerospace systems and familiarity with aerospace fluid system design standards.
  • Experience with large assemblies.
  • Experience performing structural hand calculations and analysis with ANSYS.
  • Experience interpreting P&IDs.
  • ASME Y14.5 GD&T expertise.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Generating CAD models for propulsion fluid system hardware and tube assemblies for flight and ground testing.
  • Releasing Model Based Definition (MBD) of fluid assemblies and drawings, and performing drawing checks.
  • Leading design configuration management of the fluid and propulsion system for integration with the vehicle.
  • Coordinating with vehicle teams on interfaces and joint design solutions.
  • Leading design for manufacturability for fluid component assemblies.
  • Performing basic structural analysis on fluid system hardware.
