Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a highly experienced Range Safety & Flight Termination Engineer to support MDA targets and countermeasures programs. You will provide critical expertise for FTS across launch and reentry vehicles, lead testing efforts, and produce technical reports for senior stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in defense/aerospace, an active DoD Secret clearance, and hands-on knowledge of RCC-319/324 and RF tracking. Travel and cross-group collaboration are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in STEM with 12+ years of experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain higher clearance.
• Proficiency with flight termination and range safety standards RCC-319/RCC-324.
• Experience with range tracking architectures (GPS/IMU/C-band).
• Strong written/verbal briefing skills and travel willingness.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Range Safety expert for flight tests and termination testing.
• Oversee requirements development, allocation and verification for FTS products.
• Conduct surveillance of hardware/software development, qualification and integration.
• Author technical reports with findings and recommendations.
• Represent stakeholders in working groups and design reviews.
