Job summary

Orion Space Solutions, an Arcfield company, seeks a Flight Software Engineer III to lead development, integration, and maintenance for complex ground and space payloads. You will collaborate with hardware engineers and program leads to deliver reliable software across multiple programs.

You will work on embedded processing for spacecraft, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and participate in design reviews and qualification activities. Strong skills in C/C++, Python and RTOS are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or computation field plus 5–7 years, MS plus 3–5 years, or PhD plus 0–2 years in software engineering for space & aerospace applications.
• Experience with space processing architecture including micro-controllers, processors, SoC and GPUs.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems, RTOS and programming languages (C, C++, Python, Bash).
• Experience with git-based source control and CI/CD systems.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Podman, Docker, Docker-Compose.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex applications and algorithms for embedded processing systems for spacecraft and ground tooling.
• Maintain code and CI/CD pipeline best practices for build, test, and deployment.
• Participate in design reviews, code inspections, and integration tests with hardware and software.
• Support qualification and certification activities for flight software with documentation.
• Deliver written and verbal communications to multidisciplinary audiences.
• Interface with hardware designers, scientists, and development engineers.
• Monitor and report software trends and assess third party/open-source software.
• Support proposal writing and technical information for new business.
