Job summary

Shield AI in Dallas, TX seeks an Aerospace Engineer to own flight performance, endurance, and mass properties for V-BAT. You will translate flight dynamics into validated models that guide design decisions and autonomy software, working across design, propulsion, guidance, and flight-test teams.

You will plan and drive flight tests, maintain weight and CG models, evaluate payloads, and collaborate with Go-To-Market for configurations.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in aerospace/defense industry.
• Understanding of fixed-wing flight dynamics and aero/prop fundamentals.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB for data analysis to define envelopes.
• Experience maintaining aircraft weight and CG models.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive change.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine endurance, range, loiter, and cruise performance calculations.
• Own the aircraft weight and CG model and report changes.
• Create and maintain aerodynamic and propulsion models for GNC use.
• Collaborate with mechanical/propulsion design on weight/drag impacts.
• Evaluate payloads and configurations for endurance impact.
• Plan and drive flight test campaigns to validate models.
• Analyze data, perform RCA, and drive corrective actions.
• Define operational envelopes and performance specs.
