Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking an Instructor / Check Airman Pilot to lead training, conduct evaluations, and ensure pilots meet FAA and company standards. You will deliver instruction for initial, recurrent, and upgrade programs while mentoring staff and improving safety practices.

The role requires FAA certificates and substantial flight experience, with a strong emphasis on leadership, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with the Chief Pilot.

Qualifications

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; appropriate helicopter or airplane rating.
  • Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate (or higher).
  • Instrument Rating – Helicopter (VFR and IFR): VFR/IFR 2,000 hours total flight time; VFR/IFR 100 hours unaided night flight; VFR 100 hours cross-country (25 hours at night); IFR 75 actual or simulated instrument hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot proficiency checks, evaluations, and IOE per FAA regs and company policies.
  • Deliver flight and ground instruction for initial, recurrent, and upgrade training.
  • Assess pilot performance and provide constructive feedback to improve skills and compliance.
  • Develop and update training materials, lesson plans, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Pilot to address training needs and operational improvements.
  • Mentor pilots to promote professional growth and development.
  • Participate in safety programs by identifying risks and reinforcing best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records, evaluations, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist in recruitment and onboarding by evaluating pilots and conducting interviews.
  • Act as SME during regulatory audits and inspections.
