Job summary

City of Leesburg is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead the centralized fleet division. You will oversee budgeting, policy implementation, and coordination with City departments to ensure efficient maintenance and operation of municipal vehicles and heavy equipment.

The role requires extensive fleet experience, supervisory skills, and the ability to develop bid specifications for purchases. You will report to the Deputy Director of Public Works and supervise a team of mechanics and support staff.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years in automotive fleet environment with at least four years in a supervisory role.
• Equivalent education/experience will be considered.
• Reads technical instructions and composes routine reports and letters.
• Develops bid specifications for vehicle and equipment purchases.

Responsibilities

• Directs the City’s centralized fleet division and staff; plans and directs the fleet management program.
• Coordinate with City departments; analyze preventive maintenance and repair procedures.
• Develop and implement safety policies; manage budgeting and program goals.
• Prepare and review fiscal year work calendars and performance metrics.
• Develop computer systems and software relevant to fleet operations.
• Assess replacement and disposal of municipal vehicles and equipment.
