City of Leesburg is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead the centralized fleet division. You will oversee budgeting, policy implementation, and coordination with City departments to ensure efficient maintenance and operation of municipal vehicles and heavy equipment.
The role requires extensive fleet experience, supervisory skills, and the ability to develop bid specifications for purchases. You will report to the Deputy Director of Public Works and supervise a team of mechanics and support staff.

Degree in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Business Management or related discipline preferred. Eight or more years of experience in an automotive fleet environment with a minimum of four (4) years as a supervisor or manager in a fleet environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Performs supervisory work involving policy and guidelines, solving both people and work related problems.
Uses basic algebra involving variables and formulas, basic geometry involving plane and solid figures such as circumferences, areas, or volumes; may compute ratios, rates, or percents.
Read technical instructions, procedures manuals, and charts to solve practical problems; composes routine and specialized reports, forms, and letters; speaks compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
Performs specialized technical and administrative work requiring general understanding of operating policies and procedures and their application to problems not previously encountered; applies specialized technical or professional principles and practices in the solution of problems; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional exposure to unusual pressure.
Special Certifications and Licenses refer to state, federal, or professional certifications or licenses required entering or maintaining the job.
Requires a valid State of Florida Class B CDL and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Must obtain a valid State of Florida Class \"A\" Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months of hire date.
Special skills or equipment certification may be required.
Performs administrative and managerial work directing the City’s centralized fleet division. Work involves responsibility for planning and directing the fleet management program, contractors and city employees; to include the maintenance, servicing, modification and repair of municipal vehicles. Responsible also for replacement and disposal of a wide variety of automotive, vehicular, emergency and heavy construction equipment. Develops and submits bid specifications for vehicle and equipment purchases. The class works within broad policy and organizational guidelines; independently plans and implements projects; reports progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings.

PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS: Physical and dexterity refers to the requirement for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Requires medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, pushing or raising objects, exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS: Environmental hazards refers to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
The job may risk exposure to extreme heat and/or cold, bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibrations, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, toxic/caustic chemicals and explosives.
