Job summary

Ruppert Landscape seeks a Senior Fleet Mechanic / Shop Manager in Richmond, VA. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment while leading shop operations and coordinating with branch teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years hands‑on mechanic experience with fleet, trucks, trailers, or landscaping equipment.
• Diagnose and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and related equipment.
• Experience leading a shop, crew, or maintenance operation preferred.
• Willingness to stay hands‑on while managing shop responsibilities.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment including diesel and gas trucks, trailers, and landscape tools.
• Lead the shop operations while balancing repairs and daily maintenance tasks.
• Prioritize and coordinate repairs with branch personnel to minimize downtime.
• Lead vehicle and equipment reconditioning programs to meet safety and image standards.
• Maintain accurate service, repair, inspection, mileage, and reconditioning records.
• Manage parts, inventory, tools, and shop supplies for efficient repairs.
• Ensure clean, organized, and safe shop and maintenance yard.
