Job summary

Manatee County Government is seeking an Automotive Technician to perform skilled maintenance and repair of the county fleet vehicles and equipment. Duties include 32-point inspections, oil changes, fluid checks, battery and tire service, and diagnostics using state-of-the-art tools; some welding may be required.

Starting hourly range is $20.68 to $31.95; actual level depends on qualifications (Tech I–Senior) and certifications (ASE/NATEF) with a CDL endorsement before offer.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Minimum ASE or NATEF certifications; several levels with experience considered.
• Progressively responsible experience in repair and maintenance of vehicles and vehicular equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment and open/update work orders.
• Perform maintenance tasks including 32-point inspections, oil changes, fluid level checks, batteries and tires.
• Repair or assist with repairs to vehicles and equipment including engines, hydraulics, and brakes.
• Follow safety guidelines and prepare reports/logs as required.
• Senior level may lead and supervise junior staff.
