Job summary

SST Direct in Elkridge, MD is seeking a skilled Fleet Diesel Mechanic for a direct-hire opportunity. Diagnose and repair diesel engines and heavy equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and document service work in detail.

The role requires 5+ years of diesel/heavy equipment experience, strong diagnostic skills, and fabrication abilities. Compensation is $30-$40 per hour with full benefits including PTO, medical, dental and a 401k; schedule Monday to Friday 7:00am–3:30pm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and schematics for troubleshooting.
• Fabrication skills including welding and metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostics using schematics and diagnostic tools for diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, and electrical components.
• Repair and maintain heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers and farm machinery.
• Repair and replace components including brakes, HVAC systems, powertrain parts and wheel alignments.
• Fabricate parts or modifications using welding, soldering and power tools.
• Maintain detailed service records and ensure safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Assist in assembly or disassembly during repairs or upgrades; support heavy lifting safely.
