Job summary

City of Austin's Finance Department is seeking an Accountant IV in the Fixed Assets Accounting Department to oversee complex asset transactions and reconciliations, mentoring junior staff and serving as the subject matter expert on fixed asset systems.

Responsibilities include reviewing GAAP-compliant financial statements, preparing audit work papers, and coordinating with management on reporting for CAPEX projects and asset controls. This is a senior IC role with potential telework options.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyze complex financial statements.
• Experience with audit work papers and external audits.
• Leadership experience preferred for supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee collections of revenue and processing of customer payments.
• Prepare complex financial statements and reports per GAAP.
• Prepare audit work papers and respond to auditor questions.
• Lead or participate in research of new accounting standards.
• Maintain ledgers and ensure GAAP-compliant postings.
