Job summary

Graphcore in Austin seeks a Senior Staff Firmware Engineer to design, develop and deliver complex firmware across next‑gen hardware. You will shape firmware architecture, mentor teams, and partner with hardware, silicon and platform teams to deliver robust, scalable, production‑quality firmware.

You will own design and implementation of boot flows, real‑time embedded logic, and platform security, while performing deep debugging and system bring‑up across Graphcore silicon and platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant industry experience in embedded/firmware engineering using C/C++.
• Strong track record delivering real-time embedded systems and boot logic.
• Solid knowledge of silicon and hardware interfaces (I2C, I3C, SMBus, SPI, PCIe, DDR, power mgmt).
• Ability to design and implement complex firmware initiatives with a long‑term perspective.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and cross‑layer issue resolution capability.
• Ability to define architectural direction at subsystem level and communicate clearly.
• Experience with CI/CD systems, build tools, and modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for complex firmware features and subsystems.
• Contribute to architectural development for large parts of the firmware stack.
• Lead cross‑team collaboration with hardware, silicon, platform, drivers and test groups.
• Design, implement, and deliver production‑quality firmware in C.
• Perform deep system debugging with oscilloscope, logic analyzers, JTAG, and emulation.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across the team.
• Drive continuous improvement in build systems, tooling, and validation frameworks.
