Do you want to be at the forefront of the AI revolution? Etched.ai is developing groundbreaking hardware that will power the next generation of artificial intelligence. Founded on the belief that new hardware is essential for human- and superhuman-level AI, Etched's ASIC systems deliver orders of magnitude higher performance than conventional AI chips. We are actively developing Sohu, an ASIC designed exclusively for transformers, enabling products like real-time video models and deep chain-of-thought reasoning that are impossible with GPUs. We aim to bring this technology to market in months, not years. Sohu is tailored for specific model architectures, supporting transformers with significantly higher throughput and lower latency than a B200.

We are seeking passionate software engineers to join our rapidly growing team. You will have the opportunity to:

• Design cutting-edge software to optimize the performance of our Sohu chip and maximize the potential of large transformer models.
• Collaborate with a world-class team of hardware and software engineers to push AI technology forward.
• Solve challenging problems across the full stack, from low-level drivers and APIs to high-level applications and frameworks.
• Review code developed by peers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, including style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to AI solutions that could revolutionize industries like natural language processing, automation of reasoning, and generative media.

We're looking for engineers with:

• Strong programming skills in C++, Rust, and/or Python
• Experience with embedded systems, high-performance computing, or distributed systems
• Deep understanding of computer architecture and operating systems
• A passion for AI and a desire to make a real-world impact

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years in software development, with expertise in data structures and algorithms
• 5+ years in testing and launching software products, with 3+ years in software design and architecture
• 5+ years in firmware design, implementation, and troubleshooting
• 5+ years in embedded architectures, IO technologies (I2C, SPI, PCIe, DRAM), and concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
• 3+ years in technical leadership, leading project teams and setting technical direction
• Experience with Java or Go, with the ability to resolve customer issues
• Proven ability to solve ambiguous problems with significant impact
• Excellent communication skills
