Job summary

Trilyon, Inc. in San Jose, CA, seeks an experienced firmware lead to design and develop high-speed SerDes firmware bridging electrical and optical domains. The role focuses on low-level firmware, hardware interfaces, and robust calibration of photonic and electrical subsystems.

You will collaborate with hardware and validation teams, utilizing C/C++ with baremetal and Zephyr RTOS to deliver reliable PIC-integrated solutions. Strong debugging skills and PCIe knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years firmware development experience.
• Experience in firmware for high-speed SerDes systems (electrical and optical).
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Knowledge of PCIe and IEEE 802.3 PHY specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop firmware bridging SerDes, silicon photonics, and optical subsystems.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, and validation teams to enable control, calibration, and optimization.
• Support debugging and hardware bring-up using JTAG/I2C tools and scopes.

Contract Term: 12 Months (possibility of extension)

Notes:-

• Working on Aurora Firmware – Chip
• Baremetal experience and Zephyr RTOS is needed.
• C/C++ experience. Basic C++ object oriented programming.
• Ethernet, electrical or optical transceivers (optical preferred), CMIS

Job Duties:

• This position is ideal for a technical leader with strong passion for low-level firmware and a solid understanding of both electrical and optical physical-layer systems.
• In this role, you will design and develop firmware that bridges high-speed electrical SerDes, silicon photonics, and optical subsystems.
• You will work closely with firmware engineers, hardware designers, system architects, and validation teams to enable robust control, calibration, and optimization of next generation SerDes solutions integrating advanced photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and high performance electrical interfaces.

Experience And Education:

• 8-10 years experience of firmware development;
• Prior work experience in developing firmware for high speed SerDes systems, spanning both electrical and optical domains;
• Programming skills with C and C++;
• Knowledge of physical layer specification in PCIe and IEEE 802.3
• Ability to work with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, I2C bus analyzers and scope is preferred;
• Experience in source control and build management, preferred.
