Job summary

AT&T seeks a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer (Firewall Policy Implementation) to operate, maintain, and optimize firewall platforms in a large-scale enterprise. This hands-on role focuses on policy quality, automation, and AI-enabled operations across a global environment.

The position is on-site in Charlotte, NC five days a week, with potential consideration for strong matches at Dallas, Bothell, Middletown, or Alpharetta hubs. Requires senior-level firewall policy experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience operating firewall policies in production.
• Hands-on firewall policy implementation at large-scale enterprises.
• Strong change-control and post-change verification discipline.
• Experience with Palo Alto PAN-OS and related tooling.
• Ability to troubleshoot security and network policy issues under time pressure.
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled operations and AIOps.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and implement firewall rules to mitigate risk.
• Own day-to-day firewall policy operations and maintenance.
• Apply safe configuration change management with validation.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and policy issues across a global environment.
• Drive automation and AI opportunities using Copilot, GitHub, Claude.
• Perform risk assessments and mitigate security issues.
• Collaborate with IT, network, and business units.
