Job summary

QTS Realty Trust is seeking a Development Project Manager – Fire Protection & Fire Alarm SME to lead technical projects across fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety systems for mission-critical facilities. You will interact daily with Facilities, Designers, Engineers, Commissioning Agents, AHJs, and procurement teams.

The role demands expert design review, RFI handling, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and IBC/IFC requirements.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues to leadership, insurers, AHJs, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards and life-safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Review drawing packages for adherence to fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety design standards.
• Collaborate with internal and external design teams to evaluate designs for compliance with standards and local requirements.
• Define project scope requirements and communicate them to design teams.
• Answer RFIs, code interpretations, and value engineering proposals with construction teams.
• Support project teams in resolving design issues during construction, testing, and operations.
• Coordinate with local fire officials, insurers, and AHJs to support approvals and occupancy milestones.
• Develop and maintain standardized fire protection and fire alarm designs for mission-critical facilities.
