Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Estimator to prepare complete bids for assigned projects. You will review documents, lay out fire protection systems for accurate takeoffs, and solicit subcontractor quotes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in large fire protection construction, 1–2+ years in estimating/pre-construction, and strong MS Office skills with NFPA familiarity. Occasional travel and site visits may be required.

Qualifications

5+ years' experience in large fire protection construction projects.
1-2+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience.
Knowledge of NFPA codes: NFPA 13, 14, 20 and 24.
Ability to lay out fire protection systems.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Review construction documents, instructions to bidders, scope of work and general conditions.
Lay out fire protection systems to create accurate bid takeoffs.
Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to cover all scopes of work.
Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors/vendors via FTP/email.
Assist in development of bid strategies and participate in pre-bid meetings/site visits.
Review take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed work.
Review subcontractor/vendor quotations for compliance with plans/specs.
Develop rough draft scope of work for proposals.
Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials/equipment.
Enter estimate into job cost control program and participate in turnover meetings.
