Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Estimator to prepare complete estimates for bids on assigned projects. You will review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate takeoffs and pricing.

The role involves coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house trades such as sprinkler, sheet metal, and electrical; travel to site visits may be required. Final compensation based on experience; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in large fire protection construction projects.
• 1-2+ years' estimating/pre-construction experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes (NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24).
• Ability to lay out fire protection systems.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be able to meet critical deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review construction documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work and general conditions.
• Lay out fire protection systems to create accurate bid takeoffs.
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations for all scopes of work.
• Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors via company ftp site and/or email.
• Assist in development of bid strategies.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits (travel may be required).
• Review take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed work.
• Review subcontractor and vendor quotations for full compliance with plans and specs.
• Develop rough draft scope of work for proposals.
• Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials and equipment.
• Enter estimate into job cost control program and participate in turnover/transition meetings with operations team.
• Coordinate scope of work between in-house trades (Sprinkler, Sheet Metal, Electrical, etc.).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
