Job summary

Advanced Engineering Consultants (AEC) is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with 10+ years of experience to lead the design and coordination of fire protection and life safety systems for federal and municipal projects.

The role focuses on developing fire suppression and fire alarm designs and mentoring junior staff, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements in a collaborative, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• FPE license and 10+ years in fire protection design.
• Experience with fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
• Advanced knowledge of NFPA, IBC and related codes.
• ABET-accredited degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Strong design and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of fire protection and life safety systems for federal and municipal projects.
• Prepare construction documents for fire protection systems (alarms, sprinklers, smoke control).
• Coordinate with architects, MEP and other subconsultants to integrate fire protection requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and review designs as part of QA/QC.
• Prepare design deliverables and respond to RFIs during construction administration.
