Job summary

Workforce Access Group is seeking seasoned Fire Protection Engineers to join its Colorado and North Carolina teams. You will lead fire protection and plumbing design for healthcare facilities, with ownership on technically complex projects.

The role requires hospital project experience, PE and FPE licenses, and the ability to act as Engineer of Record. Candidates should be prepared for up to ~20% travel and a primarily in-office setting across two states.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional engineering experience
• Experience designing systems for hospitals/healthcare facilities
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) license
• NCEES registration
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• Experience as Engineer of Record or senior technical lead
• Strong knowledge of fire protection, plumbing, life-safety in healthcare
• U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contracting requirements
• Ability to travel ~20% depending on project needs

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of fire protection and plumbing systems for healthcare facilities.
• Design sprinkler systems, fire protection piping, pumps, plumbing systems, domestic water heating, and medical gas systems.
• Perform engineering calculations, system evaluations, and Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA).
• Prepare and review drawings, construction documents, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
• Ensure designs meet NFPA 13/20/99, ASHRAE, and IBC requirements.
• Conduct site surveys and construction-phase inspections.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior staff.
