POSITION OVERVIEW

Michael Baker International seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. The engineer will independently manage projects, covering all aspects of fire protection design—from proposal to system commissioning. Projects include fire sprinklers, pumps, foam, clean agent systems, and fire alarms in various buildings such as offices, warehouses, and hangars.

Responsibilities

1. Design fire protection systems under minimal supervision.
2. Manage project budgets and schedules.
3. Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and pump systems.
4. Assess life safety requirements, code compliance, and egress analysis.
5. Conduct on-site evaluations and final testing.
6. Review submittals and RFI responses.
7. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

1. Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.
2. 8+ years of professional experience.
3. BSc or MSc in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
4. Experience with fire sprinkler, pump, foam, clean agent systems, and fire alarm systems.
5. Proficiency in hydraulic design software.
6. Knowledge of IBC, NFPA 101, NFPA 13, and NFPA 72 codes.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range is approximately $97,000 to $150,000, dependent on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, 401k, HSA, FSA, disability coverage, professional development, paid time off, and wellness programs.
