Job summary

Design Hire in Albany, NY is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to lead fire protection design for new construction and renovations, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and delivering high-quality life-safety systems.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license, 10+ years in fire protection engineering within A/E firms, strong leadership, and proven ability to manage complex projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years at a professional A/E firm with fire protection experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Science.
• PE license required; New York license strongly preferred.
• Experience with fire protection hydraulics, modeling, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection concepts and strategies for new construction and renovations.
• Prepare and review construction docs, reports, and code evaluations across disciplines.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, egress and fire code analyses, and modeling.
• Support project delivery, coordination, scheduling, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to project management, proposals, and client-facing technical support.
