Job summary

The City of Yuma seeks a Fire Code Enforcement Specialist to review plans, inspect sites, and enforce fire and life safety codes. You will support inspectors, manage inspections, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and city requirements.

You will handle investigations, maintain records, and interact with the public while upholding safety standards and department policies. A valid AZ driver’s license and ICC/IAAI certifications are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year of fire code enforcement and investigations as lead investigator preferred.
• Associate’s degree in Fire Science, Fire Investigation, Construction Technology, Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specs for compliance with fire, life safety, and codes for various projects.
• Conducts fire and life safety inspections and follow-ups; initiates corrective procedures as needed.
• Assists inspectors and coordinates with Fire Marshal on special duties.
• Maintains and prepares documents and records per standards; uses records management systems.
