Job summary

Cathedral City is seeking a Fire Engineer to operate all fire apparatus and equipment, safely transport crew, and respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other incidents. The role includes performing maintenance, inspections, and training duties, with potential limited Captain responsibilities.

Candidates must have a high school diploma (or GED), a CA driver license with firefighter endorsement, and hold Firefighter I & II, CA Driver/Operator 1A-1B, CPR, and EMT/Paramedic certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with fire-related coursework preferred.
• Must possess CA Driver license with firefighter endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Must have completed CA State Fire Training Driver/Operator 1A and 1B.
• Must hold Firefighter I and II certifications.
• Current CPR certification required.
• State EMT or Paramedic license/certification with Riverside County eligibility.
• Cathedral City task book to be completed by end of probation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and oversee fire apparatus and equipment; transport crew to scenes.
• Respond to fires, medical and other emergencies; protect life and property.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Provide advanced life support as required; assist at fire scenes.
• Conduct building safety inspections and identify fire hazards.
• Maintain records and assist with training programs and drills.
• May assume Captain responsibilities on a limited basis.
• Participate in station maintenance and related duties.

Education

California Class B driver license (with firefighter endorsement)

California State Fire Training Driver/Operator 1A and 1B

Firefighter I and II certifications

CPR certification
