The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for managing financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). This role works closely with senior management, the accounting team, auditors, and other departments to produce insightful financial analysis that drives informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Ensure that all financial reports are accurate, consistent, and comply with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Review and consolidate financial data from different departments or business units.
- Assist in the preparation of external reports for investors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure financial reports comply with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley).
- Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process and resolve any issues related to financial reporting.
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
- Conduct variance analysis, identifying trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Provide insights on key financial metrics and performance indicators.
- Support decision-making by presenting findings on financial performance and forecasts to senior leadership.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
- Manage the preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and adjustments necessary for accurate reporting.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process efficiencies in financial reporting and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline reporting systems and workflows.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for financial reporting.
- Lead and mentor junior financial analysts or accountants within the reporting team.
- Provide training and support on financial reporting processes and software.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., accounting, treasury, tax) to ensure smooth financial reporting operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or CFA designation (preferred)
- 2-7 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
- Previous experience in leading financial reporting processes or working closely with auditors is a plus.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
