Qualifications

The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will work closely with Accounting, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurately captured, reported, and analyzed. The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will work closely with Accounting, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurately captured, reported, and analyzed. The role will support month-end and year-end close, management reporting, financial statement preparation, system reporting, and the optimization of ERP and financial reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow information, and supporting schedules.

  • Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate, and reported within established deadlines.

  • Perform detailed analysis of financial results, including account activity, trends, variances, and key drivers, and provide clear explanations to management.

  • Prepare and maintain financial reporting packages, management reports, financial schedules, and supporting analyses.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial reports within the company’s ERP and reporting systems.

  • Serve as a key finance resource for the integrity and accuracy of financial data flowing through the ERP and related reporting systems.

  • Analyze system-generated financial information and investigate discrepancies between subledgers, general ledger accounts, operational systems, and financial reports.

  • Partner with Accounting and IT to troubleshoot system issues affecting financial reporting and data integrity.

  • Assist with ERP enhancements, system implementations, upgrades, testing, and process improvements related to financial reporting.

  • Develop and maintain reporting processes, financial models, reconciliations, and standardized reporting tools.

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting activities and improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial reporting processes.

  • Assist in the design and documentation of financial reporting procedures, system processes, and internal controls.

  • Support the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements within financial systems.

  • Perform account reconciliations and research unusual or complex transactions to ensure the general ledger and financial reports are accurate.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing financial reports, system-generated documentation, reconciliations, and analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business processes and ensure transactions are appropriately reflected in financial reporting.

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.

  • May provide technical guidance and review work performed by other accounting and finance team members.

Financial Systems & Reporting Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for financial reporting functionality within the ERP and related applications.

  • Maintain and improve standardized financial reports, dashboards, and reporting templates.

  • Validate financial data and reporting outputs following system changes or enhancements.

  • Participate in user acceptance testing for ERP upgrades, new functionality, integrations, and reporting changes.

  • Document reporting requirements, business processes, system controls, and accounting workflows.

  • Partner with IT and system administrators to resolve data, integration, and reporting issues.

  • Evaluate opportunities to improve data quality, reporting automation, and system efficiency.

  • Support data extraction and analysis from ERP and financial reporting systems.

  • Ensure reporting processes are aligned with accounting policies, internal controls, and management reporting requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 4-7 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, financial systems, or a combination of these areas.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

  • Demonstrated experience with month-end and year-end close processes and preparation of financial statements.

  • Strong experience analyzing financial data and identifying variances, trends, and data integrity issues.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Experience working with an ERP systems, Epicor preferred, and financial reporting applications.

  • Strong understanding of the relationship between ERP transactions, subledgers, the general ledger, and financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Accounting, Finance, IT, and operational teams.

  • Experience with financial reporting in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

  • Experience with process automation and reporting optimization.
