Job summary

Truist Financial Corporation is seeking a Senior Financial Manager to act as the primary finance partner to the Chief Risk Officer and risk leadership. You will drive budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, investment analysis, and expense management while translating complex data into strategic executive recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates across the Finance division to ensure integrity of the financials and sound controls.
  • Lead and mentor the Financial Management team; review work and promote diverse, inclusive culture.
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, risk, and strategic challenges; communicate solutions to leadership.
  • Lead annual planning with LOBs, budgeting, and coordination between Corporate Planning and LOBs.
  • Coordinate CCAR and Stress Test data submissions and provide feedback to LOBs.
  • Provide financial support and manage special projects, including executive presentations and strategic planning.

Serve as the primary Finance partner to the Chief Risk Officer and Risk Management leadership team, providing strategic advice, financial planning and analysis, performance insights, and decision support. Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, investment analysis, expense management, and resource prioritization while helping leadership understand financial trends, evaluate alternatives, and remain accountable for results.
Translate complex financial and operational information into clear executive recommendations and support decisions involving strategy, transformation, workforce, technology investments, capacity, and expense efficiency. Coordinate across Risk Management and Finance to ensure that plans, forecasts, and management information are aligned, forward-looking, and useful for decision-making. The role emphasizes strategic financial leadership and business partnership rather than accounting execution or regulatory reporting.

  1. Collaborates and works across the Finance division to ensure integrity of the financials and ensures sound controls and procedures. Supports reporting and analysis for additional constituencies, including Board of Directors, Investor Relations, and various regulatory agencies.
  2. Senior Financial Manager role that coordinates financial analysis and reporting process workflow within team. Provide leadership, talent development, and mentoring for team members to improve their own technical expertise; review and approve work of other team members. Foster a team environment that promotes diversity and inclusion broadly across the organization. Ensure that changes to reporting process workflow and/ or data source are documented and communicated to downstream reporting groups.
  3. Identifies and resolves technical, operational, risk management, business, and organizational challenges. Understands & exemplifies Truist's risk appetite; adheres to both the letter and spirit of applicable corporate policies, procedures, processes, standards and regulatory/compliance requirements. Takes a new perspective on existing solutions to propose innovative solutions. Establishes long-term solutions for continuous improvement. Prepares and reviews materials to senior leadership summarizing issues and communicating solutions.
  4. Lead assigned LOBs through annual planning process, including rationalizing corporate Plan allocated to LOB and adjustments for organizational changes or reinvestments. This includes working closely with Executive Management and LOB Senior Leadership to develop the annual budget. Serve as central coordination point between the Corporate Financial Planning department, Financial Executives and assigned LOBs to implement corporate directives into the financial plans. Work closely with LOB Senior Leadership to ensure their agreement with, and incorporate their directives into, the division’s overall financial plan.
  5. Serve as the centralized contact point for the assigned LOBs for the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Stress Test data submissions and provide feedback to the LOBs on the data submitted.
  6. Work closely with LOB Senior Leadership to provide financial support and complete other assigned projects, as requested, on an independent level with minimal direction. Responsibilities may include preparation of presentations regarding new business or product initiatives, financial results of the LOB group, budget and corporate plan results, preparation and maintenance of various management reports, support and coordination of the strategic planning processes for the assigned LOB units, support and coordination of the annual IT Strategic Project process, coordination with Enterprise Support Services and IT in carrying out their responsibilities for assigned LOBs; financial analysis and operational support for merger and acquisition opportunities, and serve on special LOB projects as requested.

  2. Ten years of relevant accounting or finance experience that includes complex financial analysis.
  3. Incumbent must possess the experience and business vision to provide leadership to support to the division manager and Executive leadership.
  4. Sound and comprehensive understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes. Ability to build consensus through communication and presentation of factual and relevant information.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret and communicate financial analysis to business partners in a concise and useful manner.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Sound and logical decision-making abilities.
  8. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work well with others in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  9. Familiarity with GAAP, with specific knowledge of GAAP related to supported LOBs. High proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other basic software products. Financial Modeling experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Supervisory, team leadership, or talent development experience.

  2. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, or other relevant professional designation.

  3. Master’s degree or MBA.

  4. Financial services, risk management, or other relevant specialized industry experience.

  5. Experience with enterprise planning and performance-management platforms such as Essbase/Hyperion, EPM/BPC, or comparable tools.

  6. Experience developing financial models, analytical solutions, dashboards, or executive reporting using data visualization and automation techniques and tools. Examples may include Power BI, Tableau, HTML, macros/VBA, or comparable technologies.

7.Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear visual insights and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
