Job summary

Alexander James Recruiting is partnering with a Columbus, Ohio–based aerospace supplier to recruit a Financial Controller who will oversee all financial operations. The role offers a competitive base salary with a 10% bonus and clear growth into a CFO position as the department expands.

The successful candidate will manage GAAP reporting, cash flow, and compliance while supporting government and defense contracts. Experience in manufacturing and with Xero/QuickBooks/Sage is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP; IFRS preferred but not essential.
• Experience in manufacturing environment and ability to handle varied tasks from bookkeeping to reporting.
• Aspirations toward CFO role and ability to build a department over time.
• Experience with government or manufacturing clients and banking relations beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and completion of financial statements in line with GAAP and IFRS.
• Oversee accounting operations including reconciliations, AP, and payroll processing.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis and account reconciliations.
• Oversee cash management, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Develop financial reports that clearly communicate complex concepts to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance requirements for customers and contracts are met.

Alexander James Recruiting is working with a reputable business who manufacturer supply and design various products and service’s to the aerospace who are seeking a new Financial Controller to take responsibility for all financial operations within the business. Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation & completion of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Oversee all aspects of accounting operations including account reconciliation, accounts payable, and payroll processing
• Conduct detailed financial analysis & account reconciliation
• Oversee cash management activities including forecasting & cash flow analysis
• Develop financial reports that communicate complex concepts effectively to stakeholders at all levels
• Appreciate and take seriously the level of compliance required for the customer’s the company works with

Requirements

You will be highly compliant and understanding of the principles of GAAP and preferably IFRS though the latter is not essential. Our client is seeking a versatile individual who is able to work well within a manufacturing environment and adapt to various tasks from bookkeeping to detail financial reporting in the context of capital equipment and the ability to work well with cash management & margin management. The role would suit either an experienced financial controller/Chief financial officer or someone who is ambitious and capable looking to push themselves into a future CFO position. The company have big expansion plans and there require an individual who wants to help them build a department over time. Experience of Xero, Quickbooks & Sage would be a plus as would any involvement with government or manufacturing and the ability to manage banks effectively. Ideally you will be based in Columbus, Ohio where the company operates.

Having grown rapidly over the last few years from circa $3m to $15m our client is a specialist provider of various products and services to the aerospace industry in particular. Dealing with a lot of defense contracts and government departments they’re required to be highly compliant and therefore require individuals who appreciate this aspect of what they do. Based in Columbus, they operate predominantly within North America though have some international clients also and employ around 100 members of staff.
