Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst in Des Moines to lead advanced preparation, forecasting, and modeling of financial data.

You will analyze product line results for internal and external reporting, and ensure GAAP/SAP compliance with NAIC rules. The role requires 4+ years in accounting/auditing, strong technical GAAP knowledge, and ability to communicate complex concepts to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and NAIC regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience preparing GAAP and Statutory financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Ability to document support for accounting conclusions and work with confidential data.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal and external financial statements and regulatory reports with high precision.
• Develop formal management reports at product line and legal entity levels.
• Present financial data to senior leaders and stakeholders clearly.
• Research GAAP, SAP, NAIC guidelines for compliance and updates.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and analyses supporting statements.
• Ensure expenses are allocated properly across entities and segments.
• Monitor operating revenue/expenses and explain variances to leadership.
• Maintain internal control documentation and support audits.
• Represent Finance on cross-functional projects.
