Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Financial Analyst Senior to prepare financial forecasts, conduct variance analyses, and perform ad hoc analyses of strategic opportunities. You’ll also assess regulatory and general business strategy.

In this role you’ll work with operating company personnel to build models, analyze budget vs actuals, identify earnings drivers for executives and the board, and develop evaluations of corporate opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or engineering.
• 4+ years of work experience in the mentioned disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses.
• Perform monthly/quarterly variance reporting and analysis of budget vs. actual and vs. prior year.
• Identify customer rate changes and recommended timing/amount.
• Track and evaluate forecasts for operating company, segment, and consolidated levels; craft earnings narratives for senior management and board.
• Develop strategic evaluations of corporate opportunities and recommend actions.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and revenue enhancement.
