Job summary

Oakland Unified School District seeks a Financial Accountant III to perform complex district-wide accounting duties and analyses. You will prepare financial reports, maintain ledgers, and reconcile accounts to support accurate financial statements.

The role requires a strong background in public school accounting, knowledge of state/federal requirements, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting. Salary DOE with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Five years of progressive accounting experience.
• MBA or MPP preferred.
• California school district accounting experience preferred.
• Supplemental coursework in computer-based accounting applications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports and evaluations.
• Prepare and submit district-wide fiscal reports, schedules, statements, forecasts and claims as required by guidelines.
• Provide reporting to the State on attendance accounting.
• Maintain general and/ or subsidiary ledgers and accounts.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and health and welfare benefits.
• Prepare monthly Cash flow for Controller’s review.
• Assist in year-end closing and audit preparation.
