Job summary

Armstrong is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join the finance team, focusing on financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement. You will turn numbers into insights that support strategic decisions while ensuring accuracy and integrity of results.

The role covers journal entries, month-end close, variances, audits, and presenting management reports to leaders. Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, 5-7 years of experience, and strong Excel and ERP skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate month-end close to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Review accounting records for accuracy, documentation, classification, and policy compliance.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts; investigate variances.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare management reports comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, and historical trends.
  • Support the annual financial audit with schedules and auditor requests.
  • Communicate financial results and insights to local and senior leadership.
  • Prepare journal entries related to prepaid expenses and accruals.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Coordinate critical components of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Review accounting records and transactions for accuracy, proper documentation, classification, and compliance with company policies
  • Analyze and reconcile complex general ledger accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
  • Lead the preparation, review, and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and management reporting packages
  • Prepare management reports and financial analyses comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, and historical trends
  • Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate
  • Communicate financial results, key variances, and analytical insights to local and senior leadership
  • Prepare journal entries related to prepaid expenses and accruals
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and improve operational efficiency
What You Will Need:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or MBA preferred, but not required
  • Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, research variances, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, PivotTables, complex formulas, data validation, and financial modeling
  • Proficiency with accounting and reporting systems, including extracting, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data from enterprise financial systems
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
