Job summary

Obsidian in New York is seeking a Non-Investment Finance Expert to produce and evaluate expert-grade deliverables, including reconciliations, 3-statement models, and purchase-accounting impacts. You will work hands-on with complex data and real-world scenarios.

Candidates should have 3+ years in a hands-on finance role, CPA/CA/CIMA preferred, strong US GAAP/IFRS knowledge and advanced Excel modeling. This is operational and technical finance, not markets.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a hands-on non-investment finance role (e.g., product control / FP&A / treasury / operations).
• CPA/CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA strongly preferred.
• Strong US GAAP / IFRS knowledge and advanced Excel modeling (linked 3-statement models).
• Comfort exercising professional judgment on incomplete or ambiguous information.
• Note: CFA / investing background not required — operational/technical finance.

Responsibilities

• Build and review deliverables such as PnL and mark-to-market reconciliations; vendor/AP reconciliations under cash constraints with controls; integrated 3-statement and pro-forma models including ASC 805/related impacts.
• Reason from primary sources and separate material from distractors.
• Write CFO-ready narratives explaining assumptions, variances, and recommendations.
