Job summary

Mercor seeks a Non-Investment Finance Expert to build and review high-stakes financial deliverables for AI training and evaluation projects. You will develop PnL, reconciliations, and pro-forma models under US GAAP/IFRS, including ASC 805/606 considerations, and craft CFO-ready narratives for senior stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in hands-on non-investment finance roles, CPA/CA/CIMA preferred, and strong Excel modeling skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a hands-on non-investment finance role: product control / financial control, corporate FP&A, technical accounting, treasury / financial operations / AP–P2P, commercial-banking credit, or professional-services / partnership finance.
  • CPA / CA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Strong US GAAP / IFRS (bonus: ASC 805 & 606) and advanced Excel modeling (linked 3-statement models, reconciliations, pro formas).
  • Comfort exercising professional judgment on incomplete or ambiguous information.
  • Note: a CFA / investing / portfolio-management background is not required — this is operational and technical finance, not markets.

Responsibilities

  • Build and review deliverables such as: PnL and mark-to-market reconciliations (trader vs. accounting, month-end marks, commissions, adjustments); vendor / AP payment reconciliations under cash constraints with controls (PO, P-card, aging); integrated 3-statement and pro-forma models including purchase-accounting impacts (ASC 805 deferred-revenue haircut, PPA amortization, synergy phasing); covenant and credit analysis; and partnership / professional-services allocations (profit-pool waterfalls, capital accounts).
  • Reason from primary sources — term sheets, purchase/partnership agreements, trial balances, memos, emails — and separate what's material from deliberate distractors.
  • Write clear, CFO/partner-ready narratives that explain assumptions, variances, and recommendations.

IFRS
Advanced Excel modeling
Narrative writing for executives

Job description

Non-Investment Finance Expert — AI Training & Evaluation

We're building frontier AI for complex, real-world finance work, and we need senior finance practitioners to produce and evaluate expert-grade work products that set the bar for what "correct, professional output" looks like. You'll work through realistic, document-heavy scenarios — messy source files, distractors, ambiguous guidance — and either produce the deliverable yourself or judge AI-generated attempts against a professional standard. This is hands-on finance craft, not survey-taking.

What you'll do
  • Build and review deliverables such as: PnL and mark-to-market reconciliations (trader vs. accounting, month-end marks, commissions, adjustments); vendor / AP payment reconciliations under cash constraints with controls (PO, P-card, aging); integrated 3-statement and pro-forma models including purchase-accounting impacts (ASC 805 deferred-revenue haircut, PPA amortization, synergy phasing); covenant and credit analysis; and partnership / professional-services allocations (profit-pool waterfalls, capital accounts).

  • Reason from primary sources — term sheets, purchase/partnership agreements, trial balances, memos, emails — and separate what's material from deliberate distractors.

  • Write clear, CFO/partner-ready narratives that explain assumptions, variances, and recommendations.

Who we're looking for
  • 3+ years in a hands-on non-investment finance role: product control / financial control, corporate FP&A, technical accounting, treasury / financial operations / AP–P2P, commercial-banking credit, or professional-services / partnership finance.
