AbbVie in North Chicago, IL, seeks an Associate Director in Development Sciences Finance to lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analyses across internal and external spend. You will drive capital projects and partner with senior R&D leaders.

Role covers planning, long-range budgeting, and cost optimization for a large, multi-site operation, with focus on cross-functional collaboration and decision support.

Qualifications

• BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA a plus.
• 8+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.
• Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
• Strong project management skills with leadership in planning and execution.
• Self-starter, independent, and adaptable to priorities.
• Ability to work in a matrix organization and partner with business and finance.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; SAP and BPC experience.

Responsabilités

• Liaise with Therapeutics Area Finance to assess financial impact on Development Science.
• Drive analyses for initiatives to inform LRP objectives for Internals/Externals.
• Support integration of newly acquired companies/assets into R&D portfolio.
• Ensure alignment on financial assumptions for PDS&T R&D funding (Plan/LRP/LBEs).
• Identify capacity constraints and forecast budget overruns with CMOs/externals.
• Optimize resource models with R&D Strategic Resourcing and Dev Sci.
• Lead capital project approvals, tracking, and financial implementation.
• Assist finance for key projects to ensure proper requirements and efficiencies.
• Coordinate across senior management to improve decision making and forecasts.
