Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Charlottesville, VA invites a seasoned financial leader to direct accounting, financial reporting, and controls for the organization.

You will develop policies, manage treasury and cash flow, oversee monthly closes, liaise with external auditors, and lead a multi-person accounting team. The role requires a CPA, a bachelor’s in accounting, and at least 10 years of experience, including leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• Minimum 10 years of accounting experience or equivalent training.
• At least 5 years supervising a multi-person accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Accounting staff to include general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial systems
• Liaise with Communities on accounting policy, procedure, and training
• Establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure
• Manage online banking and treasury management functions
• Oversee monthly financial close and related reporting to ensure timely completions
• Maintain accounting support schedules including insurance, loans, fixed assets, depreciation, and tax
• Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, manage preparation and support of all external audits
• Manage annual budget process and assist communities and departments in the preparation of their budgets
• Develop and maintain finance and accounting policies and procedures in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain accounting systems conventions, access, & user control
• Develop and maintain report formats and reporting systems
