Job summary

Dycom is seeking a Senior Technical Trainer to develop, deliver, and assess training programs for field technicians across a wide geographic territory, ensuring safety and technical proficiency in underground telecommunications projects.

You’ll design engaging materials, instruct on best practices for trenching, cable placement, splicing, and OSHA compliance, and evaluate competency through exams and field assessments while coordinating travel and schedules.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Class A CDL required
• 8–10 years of hands-on Underground Telecommunications Field Operations experience
• Knowledge of underground plant construction, trenching, excavation, conduit/cable placement
• Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to train diverse groups across locations
• Experience as a technical Trainer or Field Supervisor/Lead responsible for mentoring across multiple sites
• Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, enclosed space entry)
• Experience using mobile tech and remote conferencing for administrative tasks and reporting while traveling
• Highly organized with ability to manage a full training schedule and travel logistics independently

Responsibilities

• Design and develop engaging and technically accurate training materials for various environments
• Instruct technicians on best practices, standards, and techniques for underground utilities
• Assess technician competency via written exams and practical evaluations with remediation as needed
• Deliver multi-modal training (classroom, lab, on-site) on underground plant, trenching, cable pulling, splicing, and safety
• Coordinate logistics for training schedules across multiple locations
• Adapt delivery methods to local needs and crew availability
• Maintain detailed records of training sessions, attendance, performance, and certifications
• Collaborate with Training and Field Operations to identify skill gaps and report results
• Maintain expertise on latest tools and tech for training relevance
• Serve as SME on safety and technical aspects of underground construction
• Perform on-site safety audits and ensure regulatory compliance
• Other duties as assigned
