Job Title: Senior Field Technician

Job Description

This position supports field testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power equipment in a highly hands-on, field-based role. This position works with low, medium, and high voltage systems and equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, grounding systems, instrument transformers, motors, and related apparatus. The role requires regular travel, overtime, strong safety awareness, and a desire to grow within electrical testing and power systems, with a clear path toward NETA certification.

Responsibilities
  • Travel locally and regionally to customer sites to perform electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance work on power systems and equipment.
  • Assist with testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining electrical power equipment across low, medium, and high voltage systems.
  • Work safely around low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, following established procedures and safety practices at all times.
  • Support testing of equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, potential transformers (PTs), capacitor-coupled voltage transformers (CCVTs), current transformers (CTs), and related electrical apparatus.
  • Use and learn specialized testing equipment such as Megger testers, Ductor test sets, Hi-Pot equipment, power factor testing equipment, and CT ratio/saturation testing equipment.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and validating system performance.
  • Document test results, maintenance activities, repairs, and field findings accurately and thoroughly for reporting and record-keeping purposes.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and actively participate in job site safety meetings and programs.
  • Identify potential hazards on job sites and promptly communicate issues to the crew lead or lead technician to support safe operations.
  • Interact professionally with customers on site, representing the company positively and providing clear communication about work being performed.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and skills with the goal of progressing toward NETA certification.
  • Participate in periodic training sessions, including safety trainings and NETA certification preparation groups, to maintain and advance technical proficiency.
Essential Skills
  • 6+ years of experience in the electrical power, utility, industrial, electrical contractor, or related field environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with electrical systems, electrical equipment, or power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with electrical testing, commissioning, or maintenance of power systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work comfortably in the field environment approximately 95% of the time.
  • Experience working with low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems and associated apparatus.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing of equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, CTs, PTs, CCVTs, and other power system components.
  • Experience using or willingness to learn testing tools including Megger testers, Ductor test sets, Hi-Pot equipment, power factor testing equipment, and CT ratio/saturation testing equipment.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to electrical safety practices and job site safety policies.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • NETA certification or experience equivalent to NETA certification, or a strong interest in pursuing NETA accreditation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and regionally as required by project needs.
  • Willingness to work overtime, typically 5–10 hours per week, to support project schedules and customer needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in data center environments is a plus.
  • Experience supporting field service work for electrical power systems and equipment.
  • Interest in continuous learning and professional development, particularly in preparation for NETA certification.
  • Capability to interact professionally with customers and work effectively as part of a field crew.
  • Comfort working with a variety of electrical apparatus and testing technologies in diverse site conditions.
  • Motivation to advance through NETA certification levels, supported by formal training and incentives.
Work Environment

This is a field-based role with local and regional travel, with most projects located in and around Fayetteville, GA. The position involves working on customer sites approximately 95% of the time, with an office available in Fayetteville primarily as a convenient location for breaks or occasional use. Team members may travel to Nashville periodically for safety trainings and NETA certification group sessions to maintain and advance their credentials. The work schedule typically includes standard full-time hours plus approximately 5–10 hours of overtime per week, depending on project demands. The environment involves regular exposure to low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment and systems, requiring consistent use of safety practices and protective equipment. The organization supports field staff with a company vehicle and fuel card for travel, a company card for hotels, and per diem when traveling. Technicians receive a cellphone and laptop to support field reporting and communication. The company provides annual allowances for work gear, including a boot allowance, prescription safety goggles if needed, and an annual allowance for fire-retardant clothing through an approved provider. The culture emphasizes safety, technical excellence, and professional growth, offering structured NETA certification training sessions two to three times per year and providing pay increases and bonuses tied to achieving NETA Level II, III, and IV certifications.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
