Job summary

Rick Engineering Company in San Diego, CA seeks a Field Survey Manager to lead the land surveying department and supervise a team on landmark projects. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of land surveying experience and a CA PLS license or reciprocity to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities include client relationship management, proposals, contracts, and ensuring compliance with surveying laws and safety practices. Strong CAD and field/software skills required.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of land surveying experience.
• AS or BS in land surveying; CA L.S. registration or reciprocity within 1 year.
• Strong leadership, client relationships, and ability to manage a survey department.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain client relationships with owners, developers, agencies, contractors.
• Implement business strategy across the department.
• Prepare and oversee proposals, contracts and project financials.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local surveying laws.
• Oversee survey control, field procedures, construction staking and jobsite safety.
• Provide CAD and survey calculations, prepare maps and design surveys.
• Prepare and review boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, and subdivision plats.
• Mentor staff, perform evaluations, and recruit for open positions.
• Ensure field diaries, QC for layout, and timesheets.
